Why were the African communities defeated by the Germans during the Mallmaji rebellion?
Answer:
-Africans had inferior weapons which could not match the German modern/ superior weapons.
-German soldiers were well trained as opposed to African warriors who used traditional methods of fighting.
-Lack of unity among African communities made the Germans defeat them with ease.
-The Germans used the scorched earth policy which led to severe famine which weakened the African warriors.
-The magic water failed to protect the Africans from German bullets as promised by Kinjeketile Ngwale leading to heavy casualties among Africans.
-The arrest, detention and execution of African leaders including Kinjeketile and Mpanda demoralized the African warriors.
-The Germans received reinforcement from Somalia, Sudan, New Guinea etc and easily defeated the African warriors after the reinforcement.
-The large African communities i.e. the Hehe, Nyamwezi, and Chagga did not join the war. They had earlier been defeated by the Germans.
-The Africans lacked proper co-ordination / organization as they fought against the well-organized / coordinated German soldiers.
