Explain the roles played by Daniel Arap Moi in the struggle for independence.

-In 1955, Moi was nominated to replace John Ole Tameno who had resigned from Legco, to
represent the Rift Valley.
-In 1957, he was elected to legco to represent the Rift valley and later joined the
African Elected Members Organization (AEMO).
-In 1960, Moi was elected in absentia as the assistant treasurer of KANU. However, he declined this position.
-In 1960, together with Ronald Ngala and other minority leaders, they formed KADU to challenge the domination of KANU by the large ethinic groups.
-In 1961, Moi was elected as a member of parliament for Baringo North. He was also appointed the parliament secretary for Education in the pre-independence coalition government.
- In 1963 he was elected to the independence parliament Baringo North. He became leader of the official opposition KADU.
-In 1964 when KADU was Dissolved, Moi joined Jomo Kenyatta in KANU and was subsequently appointed minister for local government and later minister for Home affairs.
