Give three reasons why some rift-valley lakes are saline.

Answer:

-Some are found in areas of high temperatures leading to very high evaporations hence increased concentrated and accumulation of dissolved mineral salts in the lake.
-Some lakes have no outlet streams e.g lake magadi,leading to accumulation of salts in the lake
-The lake bed is made up of salty bedrock
-Some lakes may be fed by underground water streams which have passed through rocks bearing salts hence contain a high concentration of salts e.g lake magadi
-Washing into lakes of mineral-rich soils by surface run off/ rivers.
