Explain/ describe how accommodation of the eye is achieved.
Answer:
a)Accommodation to far/ distant object.
-Ciliary muscles relax; pulling the suspensory ligaments; Lens decrease in curvature/ becomes thinner and long increasing focal length; radial muscles of iris contract; and circular muscles relax; increasing the size/ dilating the pupil; Light rays from distant objects are refracted onto the retina;
b)Accommodation to near objects.
-Ciliary muscles contract; Tension in suspensory ligaments reduces; Lens curvature increases/lens becomes thicker decreasing focal length; Radial muscles of iris relax and circular muscles contract; Pupil reduces in size/ constricts; Light rays from a near object are refracted onto the retina;
