a)
ping is the TCP/IP utility command used to display the results content in figure 1. This is because its ‘ping’ that returns and verifies connectivity between one device and another usually a server computer and a client computer. It is also the utility command that returns information such as bytes sent, packets sent and also received together with the latency time i.e. approximate round trip times. The figure below justifies the use of ping command in windows.
b)nslookup is the utility command used to display the results in figure 2. This command is used to query domain name system to obtain its mapping with an IP address. The figure below justifies its usage.
c)
IP configuration utilities: These give the computers configuration information. e.g. ipconfig
ipconfig is an acronym for Internet Protocol configuration. It displays all current TCP/IP network configuration information such as: IP version, subnet mask and gateway used. The figure below shows its usage.
Route tracing utilities: e.g tracert ; this is used to show or trace the path that a packet sent over a network follows to reach its destination. Below shows the use of this utility in windows command prompt.
ping: This the other utility that is used to check connectivity between client computer and a hostname accompanied by other information such as latency time as show below.
