What is the difference between public IP address and private IP address? Justify your
answer and give an example for different private IP addresses? (10 points)
Answer:
-Public and private IP addresses are the most important parts of every device identity.
-A public IP address is the type of address that is directly accessed over the web and is directly assigned to a network router by your internet service provider.
A private IP address is that IP address which a network router provides a device i.e. a pc within a private network.
Differences:
-A public IP address is the type of address that gives you vast internet access such that you can get all information you are searching for over the internet for instance students searching information over the world wide web. which is not the case in a private IP address that is used within a specific private network connecting to other devices but within the same network for example of a person accessing information within an organization network.
-In a public IP address, a unique numeric code is not reused by another device that is every device connected to a public IP address uses its unique address whereas in a Private IP address a non-unique numeric code is reused by devices connected within a private network.
-A public IP address is provided and controlled by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for example someone accessing the internet via a specific ISP while a private IP address is given to a specific device in a private network. For example, a device within a hospital network is assigned a private IP address.
You can only find your public IP address the googling to the internet for example "what is my IP address while in Private IP if found within the device settings for example a device is configured via its settings for it to be connected to a private network.
Examples of private IP Addresses
A home network uses private IP addresses to connect to home devices like computers, printers, data storage, and other communication tools
Local area network for a specific environment like an office that communicates internally uses a private IP address configuration.
